Callie is from Brodhead, KY, but now lives in Richmond with her mini goldendoodle, Winnie. She received both undergraduate and master’s degrees from Eastern Kentucky University. Callie always knew she wanted to help people and the field of speech-language pathology accomplished this by helping individuals all across the lifespan and with a variety of needs! She has a passion for early language and Augmentative & Alternative Communication!

Meet our friend Clyde! Speech Therapist Megan shared this awesome Milestone Moment: “Clyde has been coming to speech for several years. He has dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyslexic anxiety. We started way back with CVC (three-letter) words - in the past few sessions, he has used a word web he created in therapy to write a full essay (with therapists scribing for him)…His mom was amazed by the essay’s length. OT Mrs. Ellen has a friend who is working through emotional regulation, ideation of calming strategies, and overall getting a better understanding of emotions and how they impact him and others. He also loves Pokémon and is very creative, so he made 6 full-sized Pokémon cards based on different emotions (i.e. the Pokémon has an emotion, a power associated with that power, and a way to be soothed/calmed). Today, on Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) Awareness Day, we’re celebrating the incredible journey of one of our amazing clients — Harrison! From his very first PT session at just a few months old, Harrison has shown nothing but determination, cleverness, and a lot of sass! 💪😄 Over the past four years, we’ve worked together on everything from rolling and sitting to walking independently. Harrison has blown us away with his grit and growth every step of the way! With support from Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy, Harrison has overcome huge hurdles: learning to stand, walk, climb stairs, communicate with AAC, and so much more. During speech therapy with Mr. Chance, this friend is practicing his “ch” sounds by verbalizing his “CHoices.” Board games can also be a great way to teach about recognizing emotions and emotional regulation in occupational therapy. When he first started working with Mrs. Janna in OT, this friend got veeeeery frustrated when he wasn’t winning a game. Now, he patiently waits his turn, describes how he’s feeling, practices describing how others might feel when in the same position, AND he can even lose a game without losing his cool, which is a huge win! 🙌🎖️#playlearnachieve #speechtherapy #occupationaltherapy
