Nuestros terapeutas ocupacionales pediátricos pueden ayudar a su hijo a desarrollar las habilidades necesarias para convertirse en adultos funcionales e independientes. ¡El juego es la ocupación de un niño! Los niños aprenden a interactuar con los demás, a cuidarse y a desarrollarse a través del juego. Mediante nuestro proceso de evaluación, determinaremos qué áreas de desarrollo de habilidades podrían necesitar mejoras. Trabajaremos con usted y su familia para ayudar a su hijo a alcanzar todos los hitos del desarrollo. Creemos que todos los niños merecen apoyo y la oportunidad de aprender y dominar las habilidades que les permitan tener éxito a lo largo de su vida.

¿Mi hijo necesita terapia ocupacional?

Una vez que determinemos las necesidades de su hijo, mediante evaluaciones estandarizadas y entrevistas con la familia, elaboraremos un plan para su cuidado. Estas áreas pueden incluir: • Mejorar la coordinación y el equilibrio durante las actividades de juego gruesas • Desarrollar habilidades de juego e interacción social apropiadas para su edad • Desarrollar habilidades de higiene y autocuidado adecuadas para la edad del niño • Coordinación motora fina, incluyendo cómo sostener correctamente un lápiz o manipular un juguete.
Habilidades motoras finas

La motricidad fina se refiere a pequeños movimientos de las manos, las muñecas y, especialmente, los dedos. Algunos ejemplos incluyen sostener objetos pequeños, manipular objetos como pinzas de ropa y sujetapapeles, escribir, cerrar cierres de ropa o pasar las páginas de un libro. Dominar estas habilidades es fundamental para un desarrollo adecuado. Como ocurre con la mayoría de las habilidades, el logro de los hitos de motricidad fina depende del dominio de las habilidades previas. Antes de poder abrochar los botones pequeños de una camisa, debemos ser capaces de agarrar y colocar objetos más sencillos, como armar un rompecabezas. Cuanto antes reciba su hijo la ayuda que necesita, más eficaz será la intervención. We’re sharing an occupational therapy success story from OT Mrs. Abby today! ? Meet Grayson! When he first started occupational therapy, everyday life felt hard. He was experiencing significant picky eating, struggled with daily routines and transitions, and had a difficult time managing big emotions.

Since then, Grayson has put in so much hard work. Through OT, he has built confidence, strengthened his self-regulation skills, and learned to take on new and challenging tasks with courage. Every small step has added up to something truly amazing! One of the biggest reasons for Grayson’s success has been the incredible partnership with his parents. They fully embraced therapy beyond the clinic by consistently practicing strategies at home through his Home Exercise Program (HEP). Their dedication, encouragement, and willingness to try new approaches have made all the difference.

Today, Grayson is trying new foods every week, navigating daily routines with greater independence, and enjoying more successful, joyful moments with his family. His growth is a wonderful reminder of what can happen when a determined child, committed caregivers, and a supportive therapy team work together.

Therapists and admin gathered together during lunch to test our spelling skills, starting with commonly misspelled words and moving into clinical terms with sooo many syllables! ? OT Mrs. Janna was the champion — listen to the end to see her winning word! Thanks to OT Mrs. Abby for hosting and organizing this special spelling bee! ??

We want to celebrate some big milestones that two of our OTs shared recently! Mrs. Jordyn’s friend (first photo) met TWO short term goals for her sensory processing aversions! ? She was able to jump on the trampoline with no signs of distress and she was able to tolerate swinging with no signs of distress either! ✨These are huge accomplishments for her, because she used to be extremely sensitive to any vestibular input — now, she tolerated TWO! AND, OT Mrs. Abby shared that this friend (photo 2) graduated from feeding therapy! ? A huge accomplishment! We are so proud of this progress! ???
