She was joined by Morgan, one of her clients, who shared her lived experience with autism and ARFID, opened up about her feeding therapy journey, and showed what it looks like to advocate for herself and others navigating feeding challenges ♥️

This past week, staff member Nicole delivered hundreds of personalized cards to the UK DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic for pediatric cancer patients. The coloring cards were designed and donated by HTP to Baker Intermediate School for their first ever DanceBlue Mini Marathon in February, part of a year-long fundraising effort organized by the University of Kentucky for childhood cancer. The fundraising culminated in a 24 hour dance marathon at Rupp arena on April 18-19th, where nearly 1,000 college students pushed their bodies and minds to their limits in solidarity to support kentucky’s smallest heroes.

Nicole, along with Baker Principal, Josh Mounts, and Baker Intermediate School’s own student-run Morale Committee of 5th and 6th graders, officially presented their fundraising check during the marathon at Rupp, where many of the clinic patients who received the special cards were also in attendance.

There’s something extra special about kids encouraging kids! Take a look at some of the sweet messages the students wrote for the clinic children.

Our therapists use sensory bins daily — and they are easy to put together at home, too! ? You probably already have everything you need in your pantry, but if you want to make a sensory bin with a seasonal twist, a quick visit to your local dollar store will give you tons of inspiration! For babies and toddlers (0–5 years), try filling a shallow bin with: • Dry rice, oats, pasta, or shredded paper • Measuring cups or spoons • Small bowls or scoops • (For older toddlers) pom-poms, small plastic toys, or large, safe objects to find and sort
Sensory bins support fine motor skills, early math concepts (scooping, pouring, measuring), language development, and independent play—all while keeping little hands busy ? (Just keep an eye on things so that nothing gets swallowed! ?)

We were so excited and honored to support Baker Intermediate School’s (@henry.bakerintermediate) DanceBlue mini marathon last week! ?? In the fall, staff member Nicole Hopper met with the principal of the school to collaborate on bringing the University of Kentucky’s honored DanceBlue (@uk_danceblue) tradition to Winchester as a way to raise funds for pediatric cancer and honor local heroes who had battled the disease. Nicole’s daughter, Leorah, is among those heroes. This school year, she celebrates being 5 years cancer-free, which means she is now officially “cured” of cancer ??

HTP designed and donated 810 coloring cards for the students at Baker to decorate and write special messages of encouragement for the pediatric patients currently being seen at the UK DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology clinic. ? Later this week, Nicole and the Baker principal, Josh Mounts, will be personally delivering the cards to the UK Oncology clinic to bring some extra joy to Kentucky kids fighting cancer.

In the words of Jarrett Mynear, a Kentucky pediatric cancer patient who passed away and whose legacy inspired the whole DanceBlue movement: “In a moment of joy, there is healing” ? To learn more about DanceBlue and their amazing mission, visit their website, www.danceblue.org!
